The early life of Kamal and education
Kamal Hossain was born on April 19, 1937, in Kolkata. While India was a partition at that time, his family shifted to Dhaka, and he admitted to Gregory’s High School. When he was at 16, that time, he received a scholarship for two years and admitted to Notre Dame University, United States. He studied economics.
In 1958, he went to the United Kingdom from the United States, and he has gone by ship. From Oxford University, he gets a Bachelor of Civil Law degree in 1959. He also registers as an advocate into the High Court of East Pakistan. In 1964, he got a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Oxford University.

In 1963, Kamal wedded Hameeda Hossain, and that time he was at 26. Kamal has only two daughters, and his 1st daughter is Sara Hossain, who is a leading Bangladeshi civil rights lawyer.
